Facebook is a hub of troll pages and meme pictures, but it was the turn of the social media giant to be trolled by a satirical website, National Report. As per the article published by this satirical website, Facebook will be charging all its users $2.99 per month for the services provided by the social media giant.
As mentioned in the article, “At a press conference, Facebook rolled out their new monthly service plan which begins November 1st of this year. The social media giant says they will start charging members $2.99/mo to use the services that the site has to offer”.
According to the reports filed after this article claimed that Facebook will not be charging its users and it was just a satire news piece. There was an outrage on social media platforms where this news article was considered real. A large number of people even tried to contact Facebook demanding an explanation over their action.
Making it seem authentic, the satire article also contained quotes of Mark Zuckerburg stating, “After thinking long and hard about this decision, at the end of the day we were forced to add this monthly fee. If we don’t do something about our rising costs now, Facebook could cease to exist in the near future. “
Facebook will be adding a ‘satire’ tag along satire or parody based news outlets to avoid such further confusion among its users.
