Facebook has launched a new ‘On This Day’ feature that allows users to relive special moments of their past each day. Through this feature Facebook will highlight everyday posts made on the same day years before by the user or by others in which the user was tagged in.
The page created using ‘On This Day’ will only be visible to the user, but they can choose to share it with their friends.
‘People often look back at old photos and other memories they’ve shared on Facebook, and many have told us that they enjoy products and features that make this easier,’ said Facebook in a blog post.
‘On This Day shows content from this date in the past.
For example, you might see past status updates, photos, posts from friends and other things you’ve shared or been tagged in – from one year ago, two years ago, and so on.’
Users can click on the On This Day bookmark, search for “On This Day”, or visit facebook.com/onthisday to relive moments from their past that occurred on that day.
Also, they can subscribe to receive notifications from Facebook whenever there are memories to look back on. The old posts can also be shared, edited or removed by users.
Facebook hopes to release this feature globally on web and mobile in the coming days.
